A tour full of history with plenty of free time to explore beautiful Durham, staying at a wonderful hotel in the city.

Price includes:

Day one

We travel to Durham, the location of our hotel. Explore beautiful Durham Cathedral, where the breathtaking vaulted ceiling soars skyward like the choristers’ voices, and discover its Open Treasure experience which gives visitors access to previously hidden spaces within the Cathedral. Durham is a compact city so can easily be explored at leisure.

Day two

Today we enjoy free time to explore Bishop Auckland, home of the Prince Bishops of Durham for almost a century. It’s a bustling market down standing high above a meander in the River Wear with commanding views of the surrounding countryside. After lunch, we visit Barnard Castle, set on a high rock above the River Tees.

Day three

This morning we take the journey to the famous Beamish Living Museum, an open-air museum set within 300 acres of beautiful County Durham countryside which tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Experience town life as it would have been during these times and take unlimited free rides on the Beamish tram.

Day four

Today we have a leisurely breakfast before further time exploring the fabulous city we are based in. We then travel back home.

The Radisson Blu Durham overlooks the River Wear and is centrally located within walking distance of the historic city centre. All stylishly decorated rooms are spacious and contemporary in style and there is a large, modern restaurant with a view over the river. The hotel also has a stylish bar with comfortable seating and leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, spa bath, steam room and gym.

Value over £500pp - £75pp deposit

The full balance of holidays is due at least 6 weeks before the trip. Bookings made within 6 weeks must be paid in full at the time of booking.
