We travel to Durham, the location of our hotel. Durham is a compact city so can easily be explored at leisure.D
Today we enjoy free time to explore Bishop Auckland, home of the Prince Bishops of Durham for almost a century. It’s a bustling market down standing high above a meander in the River Wear with commanding views of the surrounding countryside. After lunch, we visit Barnard Castle, set on a high rock above the River Tees.B, D
This morning we take the journey to the famous Beamish Living Museum, an open-air museum set within 300 acres of beautiful County Durham countryside which tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Experience town life as it would have been during these times and take unlimited free rides on the Beamish tram.B, D
